Why Amazon UK doesn't ship to the Netherlands

Amazon.co.uk is a huge marketplace, but many of its products are restricted to UK delivery only. This affects Dutch customers in several ways:

• Marketplace sellers: most third-party sellers on Amazon UK ship within the UK only. Even if Amazon's own listing ships internationally, marketplace offers frequently don't.
• Post-Brexit customs: since January 2021, UK-to-EU shipments require customs declarations. Many sellers opt out of EU delivery to avoid the admin overhead.
• Product-level restrictions: electronics, large items, batteries, and branded goods are often UK-only due to warranty or regulatory rules.
• UK-exclusive products: Amazon.nl carries a different range to Amazon.co.uk. Many UK-exclusive brands, marketplace sellers, and products with UK-only distribution are only available on Amazon.co.uk.

Dutch BTW and customs on UK parcels

Since Brexit, parcels shipped from the UK to the Netherlands are subject to Dutch customs rules:

• Dutch BTW (VAT): 21% standard rate on most goods, charged on the declared value.
• Customs duty: applies to goods valued over €150. Below this threshold, duty is generally exempt but BTW still applies.
• Handling fee: some couriers charge a small customs processing fee.

What Amazon UK products are commonly UK-only?

The restriction affects more categories than most people expect. Items frequently blocked for Netherlands delivery include:

• Health and supplements: UK brands like Myprotein, Bulk, PhD Nutrition, and Holland & Barrett are often UK-only on Amazon — frequently cheaper than Dutch equivalents.
• Electronics and batteries: items containing lithium batteries, power banks, and UK-specification electronics are frequently restricted to UK delivery.
• Books and media: UK-edition books, English-language textbooks, and region-specific releases often only ship within the UK.
• Baby and children's products: UK safety standards mean some products are sold only on Amazon UK and only ship domestically.
• Fashion and footwear: UK-exclusive colourways, limited releases from UK brands, and items from Amazon UK marketplace fashion sellers.
• Marketplace sellers: the majority of third-party sellers on Amazon UK have not set up EU shipping since Brexit added customs overhead.

With your PostUK address, all of these ship to you as a normal UK delivery. The restriction applies to Dutch addresses, not UK ones.

Are there any Amazon items PostUK cannot forward?

PostUK can forward the vast majority of Amazon UK purchases. However, some items cannot be shipped internationally regardless of the forwarding service used:

• Aerosols and pressurised cans — prohibited on most international courier services
• Large lithium batteries — some courier services restrict battery sizes for air freight
• Perishables and food items requiring refrigeration
• Items marked as non-exportable by the manufacturer — rare, but some branded goods have geographic restrictions

Why does Amazon UK not ship to the Netherlands?

Most marketplace sellers only ship within the UK. Since Brexit, customs requirements for UK-to-EU delivery have led many sellers to restrict to UK addresses only. Amazon.nl carries different stock to Amazon.co.uk, so many UK-exclusive products are only obtainable with a UK delivery address.

How can I get Amazon UK to deliver to the Netherlands?

Use a PostUK UK forwarding address. Order to our UK depot as a normal UK customer, then we forward to your Dutch address. You pay the forwarding cost plus any Dutch BTW and customs charges that apply on arrival.

Does Amazon Prime work with PostUK?

Yes. Prime delivery applies to your PostUK UK address. You receive UK-speed delivery to our depot, then pay only the forwarding leg to the Netherlands.

Do I pay Dutch BTW when receiving a parcel from Amazon UK?

Dutch BTW (21% standard rate) may apply to imports from the UK since Brexit. Customs duty applies to goods valued over €150. These charges are collected by Dutch customs or the courier on delivery and are not included in PostUK's forwarding cost.

Can I combine multiple Amazon orders into one shipment?

Yes. PostUK holds your parcels at the depot. Once you have multiple Amazon orders waiting, you can request parcel consolidation to combine them into a single shipment to the Netherlands — usually cheaper than forwarding each parcel separately.

What if the item still won't ship to my PostUK address?

A small number of items have manufacturer-level export restrictions and won't ship to any UK address outside specific postcodes. This is uncommon. If it happens, the item cannot be obtained via any forwarding service — it's a seller-level block, not a Netherlands-specific one.
