Parcel Consolidation from the UK

If you're ordering from multiple UK retailers, parcel consolidation lets you combine everything into one shipment — and pay one forwarding cost instead of several. Here's how it works and when it makes sense to use it.

What is parcel consolidation?

When you shop from multiple UK retailers — say, ASOS, Next, and Boots — each retailer ships a separate parcel to your PostUK address. Without consolidation, each of those parcels would be forwarded separately, meaning you'd pay a separate forwarding cost for each one.

Parcel consolidation means PostUK holds those parcels at our UK depot until you're ready, then combines them into a single outbound shipment. You pay one forwarding cost based on the combined weight — which is almost always cheaper than paying for each parcel individually.

How much can you save? A worked example

Suppose you order from three UK retailers in the same week, and each parcel weighs around 1kg. You want to forward them to Spain.

Approach Weight billed Forwarding cost
3 parcels forwarded separately 3 × 1kg = 3 shipments 3 × handling fee + 3 × courier cost
3 parcels consolidated 1 × 3kg = 1 shipment 1 × handling fee + 1 × courier cost

The consolidated shipment is billed at the combined weight, but you pay only one handling fee and one courier charge. On most international routes, this results in a meaningful saving — and the further the destination, the bigger the difference.

Use Quick Quote to compare consolidated vs. individual forwarding costs for your specific route and parcel weight.

How to consolidate parcels with PostUK

  1. Create a PostUK account and get your UK address
Sign up and receive your personal UK delivery address immediately.
  2. Shop from multiple UK retailers
Use your PostUK address at checkout with any UK retailer — ASOS, Next, Boots, John Lewis, Amazon UK, or any other UK website. Each parcel is delivered to our UK depot separately.
  3. Your parcels appear in your dashboard
Each parcel is logged as At Depot when it arrives. You can see all parcels in your account and decide which ones to combine.
  4. Request consolidation
Select the parcels you want to combine and request consolidation through your account. PostUK repackages them into a single outbound shipment where possible.
  5. Choose a courier and pay
Select a courier service for your country, pay for the single consolidated shipment, and confirm dispatch.
  6. Track delivery
One tracking number, one shipment, all the way to your door.

When is consolidation worth using?

Consolidation makes the most sense when:

Even on shorter routes like Spain, Ireland, France, or Germany, consolidation saves on handling fees. On routes like Australia, New Zealand, and the USA, the savings can be substantial.

Frequently asked questions

What is parcel consolidation?

Combining multiple parcels from different UK retailers into one outbound shipment. You pay one forwarding cost instead of one per parcel — almost always cheaper.

How much can I save?

It depends on the route and parcel weights, but you save at minimum one handling fee per parcel consolidated. On long-haul routes the savings are larger. Use Quick Quote to compare.

How long will PostUK hold my parcels?

PostUK holds parcels at our UK depot while you wait for other orders to arrive. Check your account dashboard for current storage terms and any storage fees that apply after a set period.

Does consolidation affect customs?

The combined declared value of all items in the consolidated shipment is used for customs. For most standard retail orders the combined value still falls within duty-free thresholds. See our customs and duties guide for country-specific thresholds.

Which destinations benefit most?

All international routes benefit, but the savings are largest on long-haul destinations — Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, and the UAE — where base courier rates are higher.
