Why US residents need a UK address
Most UK retailers only deliver within the UK. British expats in the US, American shoppers after UK brands, and anyone who wants access to UK-exclusive products or UK pricing hit a wall at checkout. PostUK solves it by giving you a personal UK delivery address at our UK depot — one that any UK retailer will accept.
Once your parcels arrive at our depot, you choose a courier to the USA, pay online, and track delivery all the way to your US address.

US customs and the $800 de minimis rule
The USA has one of the most generous customs thresholds in the world: $800 per shipment (known as the Section 321 de minimis). Parcels with a declared value under $800 are generally imported duty-free and without federal tax, which covers the vast majority of standard UK retail orders.
Parcels above this threshold may be subject to customs duties, which vary by product category. Any applicable charges are the responsibility of the recipient and are not included in PostUK forwarding costs. See our customs and duties guide for more detail.
Electronics note: the USA uses Type A/B plugs at 120V/60Hz. Most modern UK electronics are dual-voltage (100–240V) and will work in the US with just a plug adaptor. Single-voltage UK appliances (220–240V only) need a voltage converter. Always check the product label before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

Which UK shops don't ship to the USA?
Most major UK retailers only deliver within the UK, including Next, Boots, Argos, John Lewis, M&S, and many Amazon UK sellers. PostUK works with all of them.
Will I pay US customs duties on UK parcels?
The US de minimis is $800 — parcels under this value are generally imported duty-free. Above $800, customs duties may apply depending on the product type. These charges are separate from PostUK forwarding costs. See our customs guide.
Will UK electronics work in the USA?

Is consolidation worth it for the USA?
Yes — especially when ordering from multiple UK retailers. Combining parcels into one shipment keeps costs down on transatlantic forwarding. Use Quick Quote to compare consolidated vs. individual costs.
How long does forwarding to the USA take?
Standard services typically take 5–10 working days. Express options are faster. See ship to the USA for full pricing and transit options.
